Sonata
Sonata belongs to the class of drugs called hypnotics,

Sonata Information
|
BEFORE USING :
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Sonata.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter
medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OF CONDITION
may be needed if you are taking cimetidine, rifampin, or medicine for seizures.
Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy,
or breast-feeding. USE OF Sonata IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a
history of liver conditions. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have
any questions or concerns about taking Sonata.
DIRECTIONS :
Follow the directions for using Sonata provided by your doctor.
Sonata WORKS VERY QUICKLY. Take Sonata only when you will
be able to sleep 4 hours or longer. Avoid taking Sonata with or after
a high-fat meal. STORE Sonata at room temperature between 68 and
77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from
heat and light.
CAUTIONS :
DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take Sonata for longer
than prescribed. Exceeding the recommended dose or taking Sonata
for longer than prescribed may be habit-forming. Sonata WILL ADD
TO THE EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL and other depressants. Ask your doctor or pharmacist
if you have questions. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE
THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Sonata. Continue
to use caution the morning after taking Sonata also. Using Sonata
alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to
drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. TAKING Sonata
while still up and about may cause memory loss, hallucinations, dizziness,
or lightheadedness. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR if you continue to have trouble
sleeping or notice changes in your behavior or thinking. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check
with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT,
discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Sonata during
pregnancy. Sonata IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED
while taking Sonata.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS :
A SIDE EFFECT that may occur while taking Sonata is short-term
memory loss. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK
WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience daytime drowsiness
or change in moods or behavior. If you notice other effects not listed above,
contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
DRUG INTERACTIONS :
Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine
from doing its job. Use our drug interaction checker to find out if your

IF YOU TAKE TOO MUCH :
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or
emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness;
confusion; sluggishness; loss of coordination; slow, shallow breathing;
and loss of consciousness.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
You may experience trouble sleeping for 1 to 2 nights after you stop
taking Sonata. If it continues, contact your doctor. DO NOT SHARE
Sonata with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Sonata for other health conditions. KEEP Sonata out of the reach
of children.
